How this works
The ISS orbits Earth about every 93 minutes at roughly 400 km. Its position is calculated here from the latest NORAD orbital elements using SGP4 propagation. Your device is not receiving a live signal from the station — the software knows where the ISS should be based on its most recent tracked orbit.
A pass is potentially visible only when the observer is in twilight or night while the ISS is still lit by the Sun. Daylight and shadowed passes are shown separately so you can plan realistically.
